Hides at Height Workshop
For teams ready to develop confident searching for target odour positioned above the dog’s usual working height.
Three days
£525

Aim
To develop confident, systematic searching for elevated target odour through safe and progressive training.
What you'll work towards
The dog should confidently search above its normal working height and work as close to source as possible. The handler should recognise how airflow and the environment affect elevated odour.
What we'll cover
Developing confident searches for elevated hides while understanding airflow, odour movement, search behaviour and indication at source.
Before you attend
Dogs should have an established indication and maintain it for at least five seconds without physically interfering with the target odour.
Physical interference includes licking, scratching, pawing, mouthing or attempting to retrieve the
hide.
The dog can search a 3 m × 3 m area and find 1–3 hides without false indications when the handler knows where the hides are located.
