Aim
To develop systematic searching of defined ground areas and the ability to locate buried Kong odour.
What you'll work towards
The dog should systematically search a 5 m × 5 m area, locate a buried 1 cm × 1 cm piece of Kong and perform its trained indication.
What we'll cover
Developing systematic ground searches for buried hides across varied surfaces while understanding odour movement and changes in search behaviour.
Before you attend
Dogs should have an established indication and maintain it for at least five seconds without physically interfering with the target odour.
Physical interference includes licking, scratching, pawing, mouthing or attempting to retrieve the
hide.
My dog independently searches for and indicates on Kong odour in above-ground searches.
