Aim
To develop the team’s ability to plan and complete systematic searches across varied and unfamiliar venues.
What you'll work towards
Handlers should plan, manage and review unfamiliar venue searches while their dogs generalise established search behaviours across different environments and distractions.
What we'll cover
Planning and completing systematic searches in unfamiliar venues while managing boundaries, handler influence, blind searches and performance review.
Before you attend
Dogs should have an established indication and maintain it for at least five seconds without physically interfering with the target odour.
Physical interference includes licking, scratching, pawing, mouthing or attempting to retrieve the
hide.
The dog can search a 3 m × 3 m area and find 1–3 hides without false indications when the handler knows where the hides are located.
